Rodeo Run
Jamos ran in the Houston Rodeo Run yesterday. I had NO idea that it was such a HUGE race! There were over 10,000 runners in the race alone! We got downtown REALLY early on Saturday morning, it was fun to watch them set up and also get ready for the parade. I didn't get to see Jamos run, though, I was looking for him- it was like a really intense game of "Where is Waldo" except, Jamos was waldo and I didn't find him! So many runners flying past me was CRAZY! Then, RIGHT after the runners came thru- this HUGE parade happened- which is why there were tons of people downtown. I became TRAPPED on the block- but the parade route, so I couldn't walk myself thru town to the finish line- so, I was bummed. Finally, the police man, who I had asked if I could cross the street and I guess he kept getting in trouble for letting people cross the route- but he told me that he would turn his back and that I could make a break for it- so, I did!! I flew across the parade route and tried to weave my way thru the crowds on the other side of the street! I randomly found Jamos (crazy) and we went home. It was a REALLY cold morning. My hands were FROZEN- and I was pretty tired from standing on the side of the street/walking all morning and freezing to death. Jamos did good- he ran the 10k (6.2 miles) in 52 minutes. Not bad!! :) It is amazing all the people who love to run. I really wish I liked it. I just don't!
We have another visitor at our place....KILLER! Killer is the tiny little Maltese dog that we house sit for sometimes. Well, since my dad is coming and the family is going to be out of town for 8 days- killer is staying at our place and so far so FUN!!! We have gone for walks, played with the football...I have to admit, picking up the dog poop while you are on the walk is NOT that much fun....but, I can handle it. We are enjoying having Killer here! :)
Today, I went to church, but Jamos had to work...and so after church, I stopped by his store he was working at- I have never done that before- but it was close to our house- and he was making cookies in this microwave oven. YES! Pretty AWESOME! He STILL isn't home yet.....
Speaking of cookies, I am making some right now....yummmmm!
Let's see...what else is happening in our lives? We had a great visit with Jamey...and thursday my dad and step mom are coming to town! They are coming in for my birthday- which is Friday. I will be 29 years old. How crazy is that? When I was little I thought 29 was so old...and now that I am 29...it isn't. Which, is a good thing!!!!!!!!!!

A walk down picture lane.
I tried to put this pictures in order, but you know how blogging goes...below is a picture on my flight BACK from Michigan...with the FROST- the entire floor board was covered in ICE- and the white little bracket is actually FROST- there was frost on each metal piece all around and on my seat.
A night shot of the pool area at our place.
One of my FAVORITE things to do in Houston- go to the Nature Center and walk/hike around.
If you want a great pair of shoes for walking, hiking, anything"ing" get some KEENS. I love these shoes.
Jamos running at our complex. He is doing a 10 K on Saturday, so I am excited to go and cheer him on!!
TO MICHIGAN: stopped at my old apartment and saw my neighbor, Ginny. She is 89 years old and doing wonderfully. We keep in touch thru the miles! I look gross, so please, just look at her blue eyes!

leaving on a jet plane
Well, I am now on the bus, leaving for the airport. It is a beautiful day- I actually see the SUNSHINE! So, hopefully it is a great day to fly! :) I had a nice time in Michigan. Friday night I stayed with my friend Rachel- we went to this great place downtown Jackson to eat- Matt's cafe- what a great place! We of course, made our usual trip to Target...made cookies when we got home and, went to bed LATE! Let's see...Saturday, my dad and step mom came to visit. We went to Cafe Lila, which is another great cafe and place to eat. We wandered around Jackson- Rachel was gone for the day and my saturday night stay with with Lauren, and, she was driving back from PA, so, we were kind of like, "nomads" traveling around with no place to "land" which is kinda sad. Oh well. We had a nice lunch, had fun around Jackson- and then they left. After this, I had like 2 hours to kill- so I went to my old apartment and saw my 89 year old neighbor, Ginny. Her daughter, I learned, just passed away from ovarian cancer, so it was nice to catch up with her- I miss that apartment complex! I will post pictures from our time together when I get home and can actually DO that! :)
Let's see.... oh, so, after that, I went to Lauren's house and we chatted and went to this great pizza place for dinner. I got a salad, since I didnt need more CHEESE in my diet for the day! We stayed up late chatting having "girl" talk. It was fun.
On Sunday, senior expo started- I did get to see my friend Carrie and her new apartment, since she is now an RD for the college. okay- then, senior expo- met my NINE students. Yes, NINE. Everyone else had quite a bit more than I did - but I loved hanging out and see my students face to face. Most of them have no idea that I live in Texas- so, when i tell them it just is funny. How would they know?
Monday, senior expo all day- after work, and a LONG chat with a girl on my cell phone who was driving home from senior expo and having an emotional meltdown- I met up with Beth- so, I got to see her and her baby bellly along with her little one and her husband. It was fun. She is a great mom. THEN, off to get Chinese food- not from my usual place, China City- which is where I used to eat all the time when I was living there- but from a place in Spring Arbor, which I had never eaten at- I picked it up and took it back to Lauren's where we watched the Bachelor. I fell asleep at the end- and of course- missed who he voted off. ANNOYING! :)
And, that brings me to the present- which is on the bus just leaving our pickup/drop off in Ann Arbor.
I am excited to see Jamos! :) I miss him and we missed valentines day this year, which isn't too big a deal - since every day is valentines with Jamos :) He is a great husband and I appreciate him very much. He made me a card- like the good ole days! He is very creative!!! And, wrote a poem in the card. I got to open that on v-day- so it made it ALL worth it! :)
Tomorrow Jamey comes to town- so I am hoping we can have some great adventures with her while she is in town- and also just some great times to re-connect as friends.
Pray for a safe flight for me! :)

Welcome to Michigan
I made it to Michigan. After landing, I went to catch some lunch, which is where I learned of the early morning PLANE CRASH. I am REALLY glad I didn't know about it before getting on my plane this morning. I have a hard enough time during take off- though I think this crash was during landing- which, may complicate things for myself. Anyways, I only thought the plane was going to fall out of the sky like 1 time- when I JUMPED in my seat from fear. I realized I was the only one scared or nervous....so, I decided I should just close my eyes. Actually, this time, before take off, I was praying I would faint- so that I didn't have to go thru that! COME ON! What is my problem? I think I need to go to like shock therapy or something. What do you think?
Anyways, the flight was good. The guy next to me ordered the snack pack, which is SO GROSS now- they include TUNA in it- come on! Who wants to smell tuna while on the plane?? NOT ME. And then, the guy on the aisle had the DIRTIEST hands EVER. It was kinda gross. I wanted to pass him a hand wipe...but I resisted. :)
Currently, I am on the Michigan Flyer- which is taking me to Jackson- where my friend Rachel will meet me to pick me up. :) The weather is GLOOMY today- we must have passed thru like 8 shelves of clouds on the way down (landing) and I realized THAT is why the sun never shines here.
Tomorrow my dad, step mom and HOPEFULLY my grandma are coming to town to have lunch. I guess they are predicting some snow tomorrow- so she is all nervous and not wanting to be out? No idea. I am going to convince her to come- what else is she going to do? Sunday starts Senior Expo- and then Monday is part II of the weekend- and I leave tuesday morning. Some may say, "why dont you stay a little longer and work in the office?" well, to that I say- yes, that was always something i wanted to do - until I did it again and realized that nothing is the same. I dont have an office, or an office phone, and it is just one of those things that makes me feel pretty out of place- if you know what I mean. It is sad really. I love working in the office with my friends. it was awesome.
Well, I think I am going to look up more about this plane crash- AND, FYI- I did my work out video yesterday morning- and TODAY- my arms are killing me!!!!! It kicked my butt and I couldn't even do ALL of it!!! So, that will be something I need to work on, but none the less, things are good. :)
