San Antonio

Jamos and I had a GREAT time in San Antonio! We did a LOT of walking on the Riverwalk and at Sea World. We had some great meals and just enjoyed time away from working and being busy- to just be together and explore a new city!
I will upload photos soon!

Just pray the hurricane doesn't hit Houston while I am up in Michigan and Jamos is here!

rain rain go away....

It has been raining here in Houston for like 1 week. You would think we are in the midst of a hurricane- but nope, just rain!

This weekend is when Jamos and I are going to San Antonio! Not sure if we are leaving tomorrow or leaving Saturday morning really early! I don't mind what we do- either way it is going to be fun!! We may not go to Sea World- who knows, I know there is a LOT to see and do there in San Antonio- and we want to enjoy time together no matter what!

Do you ever feel like life is hard? Earlier this week was one of those moments, disappointments, stress, being an adult, worrying about all there is to worry about came to a head which means an emotional night for Emily! Praise the Lord my husband stands strong for me and tells me it is all going to be okay! We know that and trust the Lord for constant guidance and protection! Fear is not a part of the Lords plan.

We (I) rearranged the living room the other day too! I like it! I think it is nice to have a bit of a difference in the livingroom. I also re-organized my scrapbooking stuff so I can walk into the back room- and my husband can have his office back! :) I am trying to be nice and neat! :)

Well, it is storming and the thunder is banging thru the fireplace. This is good- which means I won't go to Target and spend all my money! I will stay home where it is FREE! Although- I got my sprint bill today and I feel like after all the fees, insurance ,etc,, I pay like DOUBLE of what I would normally pay. ANNOYING!!!!

This is "Killer" :)

Jamos in space
Emily in space
We got our pictures in a photo booth, so here is what the sheet looks like! I took a picture of it!
Besides being a great whirlpool employee, Jamos succesfully lands shuttles.

On our tram tour, we got to stop at Mission Control!

This is the actually center that was active when man landed on the moon.
Mission Control from the outside. Interesting eh?

We were almost there!:)
While housesitting, Jamos plays with killer

Medical Community

So, let me just start out by saying I did not have the best WEEK but I did have a nice WEEKEND! :)
Jamos and I are housesitting for one of the pastors at our church, who is also in charge of marriageprep- so, we have been taking care of "killer" the white fluffy maltese! :) It has been really fun to have an animal around! :)
Friday morning at like, 4am I woke up in pain, in my lower left abdomen- I put a heating pad on it- and tried to go back to sleep- I also took a lot of advil. So, by 8am, I was on the phone to the dr.'s office- trying to see what was wrong, if it was my UTI, if it was my antibiotic or WHAT! They were NO help- so, Jamos took me back to our house- so I could try to work, etc., by noon I was in the fetal position, in tears, and freaking out trying to work - because it hurt so bad and I had NO idea why it would be so painful- was it my appendix? So, I called Jamos- he was at a meeting, and I was like, "I need to go to the hospital" and I had researched what hospital was covered on our insurance, the directions, etc., He came home and we prayed and I was able to get into my doctor but not for a few more HOURS and there was NO WAY I was going to make it like, 15 more minutes. SO, Jamos, my wise and amazing husband, decided to just show up at the doctors office and see if they would see me before my scheduled appointment time.
So, we showed up, me with my box of kleenex, I think people were wondering what was wrong with me- I could hardly walk. Anyways, I was able to be seen, and it turned out my antibiotics werent working, and my infection started spreading up towards my kidneys. PRAISE THE LORD we went to the dr. when we did. Had it gotten to my kidneys it would have been so much worse- and I cannot imagine that.
I had to get 2 shots in each hip- an antibiotic and pain medication- and then, I got stronger antibiotic pills and pain pills. It was crazy- after the shot, she actually let me just lay in the room- she shut off the lights- oh, and she gave me this anti-nausa pill on my tounge. Anyways, it was SO great- they took awesome care of me since I was in such pain- they made it better and were happy to help. I really appreciate that.

Oh, okay, so the night BEFORE, while I was dealing w. this infection- getting worse, Jamos and I were in the car and I touched my tounge to my tooth and realized that somewhere- somehow- I CHIPPED MY FRONT TOOTH!!!! COME ON!!!! What else??!?

It was almost 1 year ago that I had my gallbladder attack in St. Joe and I had to go to the ER- and I would say the pain from all of this was similar!

Now, all of that said, plenty of rest on Friday- Jamos and I wanted to do something fun on Saturday- I was feeling better, still slow, but better and excited that he wasn't working- SO, we went to the movies on Saturday Morning- like we used to do when we first moved here- since it is only $5 per person rather than $10. We went to see Tropic Thunder- it was good. We wanted to go see it because when we were on our Honeymoon in Kauai- we actually saw them filming- when we were on our helicopter ride. Cool eh? :)

THEN, Jamos said, "let's go to the space center" it was a rainy day, and we thought it would be like a museum or something, so we headed out driving south to clear lake, to the Houston Space Center. It was amazing!!! We actually got to tour the center, which employes 14,000 people! AMAZING! We went to Mission Control and saw the room where everyone watched the first man on the moon! We saw live video feed from space- like, the astronots on the space station right now. We went on this simulator, which was kinda stupid for the price, but we were having fun! Got our pictures taken in the photo booth, touched a moon rock, watched amazing videos on space. We had a great time! I love doing things like that with Jamos. We used to do that a LOT when we only saw eachother on the weekends- because well, we had 2 days and we used to fill it with fun, but now that we work a LOT, weekends are used for REST! :)

This coming weekend, we are going to San Antonio! :) We may or may not go to sea world. It depends...I mean, I am sure there are MANY other things that would be fun to see besides spending the whole day at a park.
I will let you know!!!

We are REALLY enjoying the dog. Tonight I took her for a walk, this little dog LOVED it!!!!! Of course, I am naive and forgot a BAGGY for poop! And she pooped 1 time in someones YARD!!!!!! OOPS!!!! But, HOPEFULLY this means killer will sleep at night! The last 2 nights she had woken us both up- playing with her toys! She has this ball that she like, throws herself or something and it bags around and then, she runs to it and we hear her paws on the wood floor. Then, somehow we find the ball in the BED! And throw it on the floor and it comes back. So strange!!! :)

OH!! Another thing that is fun, okay, a few months ago, I woke up to Jamos talking in his sleep. He was saying "HOT 95.7" and he kept saying it louder and louder with more enthusiasm. I am like, WHAT?! So, the next morning, I asked him if he was dreaming, told him what he said, and...HOT 95.7 is a RADIO STATION in houston and he was on the air trying to win something!!!!! We laughed about it for days. THEN, just this weekend, we were riding in the car and they came on the radio- if you are the 95 texter to the number they provided you win some pretty cool stuff including concert tickets to Maroon 5. Well, for a fews days Jamos had been trying to win this, so he tries again and he got a text back and HE WON!!! So, he got to actually call the radio station and say his "hot 95.7" FOR REAL- and not just in his dreams!!! :) Congrats to my husband for winning and thank you to him for taking such great care of me of the last few days.

Tomorrow at lunch, I am going to get my tooth fixed downtown- hopefully it won't cost me an arm and a leg!!!!

Our new home

No, Jamos and I aren't buying a house or renting a new apartment- we ARe housesitting for one of the pastors at our church- they live in a sweet neighborhood, and have a sweet maltese- she is white and like a little fluff ball. I love animals, so I am super excited!!!

Today was a VERY busy day. We had our life insurance physicals this morning. They came to our house and we had to do a blood test, etc., Jamos did GREAT! He was up at like 4am worried about it- but he did AWESOME!!!!! We had to fast before we did it- so of course, last night exactly 12 hours before we had to do our blood test, we were STARVING- so our stomachs hurt all night.

I ended up getting a UTI. It started yesterday and it is VERY painful. I don't want to share too much, but, after our life insurance exams, I got into the doctor to get some anti-biotic to treat it. Supposedly in 36 hrs I should be feeling some relief. Those 36 hrs couldn't come FAST enough! GEESH! What a day. Oh, and because of this painful experience, we weren't able to go to small group :(

Jamos and I are also interesting in an apartment ministry- so, we are praying to see what part of that we may be involved with- we are interested, but aren't sure how the Lord will guide in this situation.

managers special

Here are some pictures...starting with our neighborhood. Jamos and I were driving to get on the highway- and I thought I would show people our 'buildings' :)
Next, it is SO hot here in Texas in August- Jamos and I walked up to the store, nearly had a heat stroke and were SO GLAD that when we got home we had a pool to JUMP into!! :)
Friday night I had scrapbook at the church. It is part of the ladies ministry and I invited my friend Amy G- and I scrapbooked for like 4 hours! Til 11pm! :) It was fun. Saturday, Jamos had to work, so I got up and went to Sams and Hobby Lobby. It was fun! :) Then, my OTHER friend Amy N (who works with Jamos) came over and we were by the pool ALL afternoon. Jamos came home a little later and joined us. Then, we were wanting some food, so we went to Spaghetti (can't spell) warehouse- where we had an OK meal. NOT my favorite AT ALL. Then, the waiter gave Amy N's card to a different table (credit card) and he had accidently swapped the cards- the other people LEFT- and so, me and our new friend Kasi ran out to try to find these people- but we were in downtown Houston- so, we asked a police guy what we should do- etc., Amy N canceled her card and we got our meals for FREE...
Sunday was church - laziness and...that is all! :)

I am still confused about life insurance - I know it is important. But, it is expensive and I hate that fact....:( Oh well. That is our lives lately. Nothing too exciting!!!

Did you know that Texas is the only state who can fly it's state flag at the SAME height as the American Flag? True. Things are JUST that way in Texas.

Our street.

The squirrel is SOOO hot it was just laying in the tree!

Look at it's little foot.

we are hot!

decisions

Wow. Life sure isn't easy, is it? Last night Jamos and I met with a financial guy- from Northwestern Mutual about life insurance. Can I just say how confusing all of that is?! Term, Whole, say WHAT?! 80 years, 20 years, 10....COME ON!
And, yes, you think nothing will ever happen to you- but life happens, we know that- and we want to be prepaired. It is interesting how my grandpa used to have an insurance company- so, he was so wise on all of this, and I know that he probably had a pretty darn good insurance policy on him and my grandma. I talked to my grandma today and I said, "I really wish I could talk to grandpa about all this" and my grandma goes, "well, he isn't here" :) ha ha. Sad, but I really wish I could. He wouldnt try to SELL me on a policy, he would just be about to offer great grandfatherly advice. Shoot.

My other huge decision making process is my work at SAU. Let me first say, that SAU has been amazing to me- for my entire 10 years of being apart of the community. AMAZING. Life changing. I was able to have the chance to work from home- in Houston when Jamos and I moved here in January- they made that opportunity happen. Yes, it was a difficult transition, I am still learning to adjust to working at home all day long. I have to say I have struggled, but also found it to be a huge blessing. My contract ends on September 5 and I had no idea what to do after that time period. Well, now I have the opportunity to continue for another year with them. WOW!!! Another blessing. I guess sometimes the Lord shoves things right in your face!!!

Anyways, if you think about it, pray for me- that I will continue to be guided. We have so many unstable things in our lives- living in Houston- all we know is 18- 24 months here- we have already been here for 8, so...it's like up in the air about that....which is hard.

I trust. I know the Lord is holding my hand. Guiding Jamos and I- not only in our jobs, in our future, in our life insurance policy, in all we do. So, I need to learn not to fret- only to trust and know that the Lord is good and his love endures forever! :)

Another weekend has come and gone

These flowers I have in my house now...

My wonderful husband brought these flowers home...but, one of them died, so we got a new bouquet(the above photo) How great to get TWO beautiful flower arrangements!

MARRIAGEPREP- in action! Here is about 150 people learning about how to build a strong marriage!

Here they are again. Look at them learning! :)

Last weekend when we went out to Macaroni Grill- we made portraits of eachother, this is JAMOS :)

Here is a side view- which is what I was drawing. I think I did a great job! :)

Our friends- picture taken at small group- Barett and Nikol. They are GREAT!

Showing some creativity while on the job, Jamos made a display for the Maytag Bravos- I thought it was very creative! :)

We made everything with my criket- which was my wedding gift from Jamos!
Here it is set up in a store...

Yes, another weekend has come and gone, and here it is Monday night and I have a few moments to post some pictures.

We had our MarriagePrep event- expected about 180- lots of people were sick or had to move their registration to October at the last moment, so, we ended up with about 150. 15 couples is 30 people, so that is always difficult. Anyways, it was a great time.
Sunday @ church we had speaker Gary Thomas, he wrote the book that i LOVE- sacred marriage. He will be preaching and teaching at our church for the entire month of August- I will be going on Wednesday nights to hear him as well. :)
Nothing new to tell you- my mom got back from her cruise, but I already talked about that one...Jamos got me flowers last week, so I will post pictures of those...who knows! I hope you are having a great day!
